Well said

Saw a picture of a quote I intend to adopt as my mantra:

"A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands"

Feelin' Groovy

Well, not exactly groovy, but better than depressed. I took the day off yesterday, as much as is possible, anyway. My mom was here (God bless my mother!), so I went out to run errands, get a hair cut, and meet hubby for lunch. It was a nice couple of hours - much needed - and I can't wait to do it again...in a couple of months.

Side note: I am totally addicted to Sudoku puzzles.

The twins are here!

Our friends' twins were born today. A little earlier than expected, but they'll be okay. We're very excited and happy for the family. Is it too soon to visit?!

Depression Hurts

Despite my taking a pill almost every day, I still feel the heavy weight of depression. And there's nothing I can do about it. The rainy weather isn't helping; my 8 month old teething isn't helping. Getting a full night's sleep SHOULD be helping, but yet I'm still down. And it's making me depressed.

No diapers, please

So, lately we've been having issues with our 2 year old taking off her diaper after she goes to bed for the night. Some nights when we check on her she's completely naked, some nights it's just the jammie bottoms that are off. For about two weeks we had no problems at all. Tonight, when I checked on her, I noted that she was fully clothed and I was pleased. Then I noticed the diaper lying next to her on her bed. She has gotten so smart that she now puts her jammie bottoms back ON after taking off the diaper. Now if only she would just use the potty!

The ups and downs of DVR

I love having a DVR because I can let Abby watch a recorded program anytime - example: we always watch Max & Ruby right before naptime. I hate having a DVR because Abby knows I can let her watch a recorded program anytime - example: this morning she said, "I want Max & Ruby NOW" and handed me the remote.

Lobster bugs??

On a recent episode of "Good Eats", Alton Brown informed me that lobsters are in fact BUGS. On the great food chain, they are a mere one step above cochroaches. Eww. Gotta tell ya - that show did anything but convince me that lobsters are good eats!

Exciting day!

Phew, had an exciting few minutes this afternoon. The dog got out of the house before I could put her on her leash and she took off over the mountain. Of course, nothing was in my favor to run after her - I was wearing slip on shoes, which kept slipping off; Abby was outside playing in her house; Josh was in the house crying. So, I followed her for a little while, and then went back to our house. I asked Abby to stay inside and watch Dora (a hardship for her) while I went back out (with real sneakers on - and the leash). I found Whisper at a neighbor's house terrorizing their bunny. They also have two dogs in a pen that were barking the whole time Whisper was there (so I kinda knew where to find her). They were very nice folk, did no harm to my dog; my dog did no harm to them. S'all good. Poor Abby - when I came back the first time and she asked me where the dog was, I said, she ran away. Abby almost cried, "But, I want my Whisper-dog back!" Well, she got what she wanted. Another fun-filled day.

She's growing up

This morning Abby asked for "Mommy's cereal with milk - just like Mommy". So, we both had a bowl of Special K with milk for breakfast. And she did quite well eating it, too. Man, she's growing up fast!
