Down for the count

Last night everyone felt fine. This morning, however, did not start off on such a great note. 5:45 - DD is crying for Mommy, but Daddy goes. She doesn't feel good - her tummy hurts; she wants a drink of water. When Daddy gets back to the room, DD is throwing up. Yuck. Clean her up, tuck her into bed with Mommy. 6:15, she's up again. After that we slept until 7:15. DS wakes up with a diaper full to overflowing. Eww. He stinks. She stinks. Mommy's stomach is starting to cramp up. Call Daddy - his tummy is in knots as well. Great, the whole family is sick with something.

DD is feeling fine now. DS is running around as crazy as usual. Mom and Dad will recover. No word yet on whether it reached out and touched Grandma as well.

My son, the alarm clock

Every morning at or around 5 AM, my son wimpers in his sleep and it wakes me up. I think he's just looking for his pacifier, cause he doesn't stay awake (99% of the time), but it wakes me up. Usually, I go back to sleep, but lately I have been lying in bed thinking about all of the things I have to do in the near future. I'm stressed out.

Oh the weather outside

is frightful? Not hardly! Today was a glorious day. After a very early start (DS started the day with puke in his bed at 6 am), we were all dressed, fed and ready to pick up the dog from the doggie hotel by 8:45.

When we got home, DS took a nap (I washed everything first) and DD and I watched TV, played outside and read books. We even swept most of the sand out of her play house outside - very homey of us.

When DS awoke, we all headed out to "Chicken Fries" for, you guessed it, chicken nuggets and french fries. Then we went to the "Little Cart Store" for groceries. I gotta tell you this - when DD asked if we could go to the "Little Cart Store" with her baby, I thought she asked to go to the "Little Car Store" and I couldn't figure out what that was!! But I got it, and we went. (In case you were wondering, the Little Cart Store is our local Weis market - they have kid sized shopping carts and DD loves to do her own shopping - I even gave her a shopping list today (the receipt from McDonald's)).

On the way home from the store, DD asked if she could go to the play park. Well, who am I to say no on this 60 degree November day?! It was heading for 2:30 by this time and I had raw meat and milk in the car, so sadly the trip to the play park was only about 20 minutes. I would have loved to let them play longer but, I needed to get the perishables into the fridge and the kids into bed for naps.

Which is where the both currently are and should be for a few more minutes. What a great day!

Easy as pie

Today, DD helped make her first pie. We made an apple-cranberry pie. I got out the trusty Apple-Peeler-Corer-Slicer and set everything up. DD turned the crank and managed to peel, core and slice 4 of the 5 apples. Pretty good effort for a 3-year old! Then we mixed up the flour, sugar and spices (she had LOTs of fun with that) and then mixed everything together. It got a little messy and it took twice as long as if I had done it myself, but it was a lot of fun - for both of us. Next up is a Chocolate Pecan Pie - not sure how much I will let her help with that one. ;-) I sense a tradition in the making!

Thanks and giving

My DD said at school that she is thankful for "The CareBears movie and Mommy and Daddy". Glad to know we rank up there, right AFTER the Care Bears!

FALL

It's that time of year - the leaves are falling off the trees and what else is there to do with them but rake them into a pile and then jump! Did I say "rake"? I meant, blow - with the leaf blower. Because who actually rakes anymore?! :-) Especially with a yard the size of ours with the number of trees we have. We almost need a team of leaf blowers! Ah, but it was fun to be outside in the crisp fall air watching my kids have a good time. DD loved it, DH egged her on and DS just watched - he was a little scared of all those leaves! It was a good time though. See....

Stay In Touch. Isn't that what we all wrote in our year books at the end of the year, every year? And did anyone actually do it?! Well, in case you haven't noticed, I haven't been doing so well in the staying in touch business with this here blog. Things have been pretty busy. Mommy doesn't get much down time anymore. And really, life is status quo - nothing interesting to report. I just didn't want anyone to think I had fallen off the face of the earth or anything (because I'm so vain that I think you might think that!)
