Well, everything is over now. With all the hype of Christmas (I mean really - who wants to see decorations out as soon as school starts?!), sometimes I wish the event itself actually lasted longer. We had a great time at Christmas, spreading it out over three days, in fact.
Christmas Day (proper) was spent with my parents and DH's mom. We started the day with meal preparations and then dug into some presents. We took a break for some more meal dealings. Then more presents. Finally it was time to eat. Goodness! We had a deep fried whole turkey and a smoked turkey breas, garlic mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, cheesey vegetables and stuffing. So much food!!! But, it sure was good.
A couple days later, SIL came to town and we had Christmas again with her. Including the whole big meal (leftovers, of course, but still good!)
Then New Year's Eve was spent in Philly with my family for another Christmas.
Tuesday morning, DH boarded a flight to Grand Cayman for a business trip and Thursday morning I followed him down. What a great trip! Of course, the first full day I was there I got myself good and sunburned, but it was still a lot of fun. I've never seen the Carribean before and, boy, it really is as beautiful as they say!! We're already making plans to go back ;-)
And now, here we are, starting the second day back into the daily routine. Seems like Christmas never happened (except for the piles of new toys and clothes) and the Caymans was a distant memory (except I'm starting to itch and peel from the sunburn); so I know they weren't long ago, but still.
A belated Happy Holidays to everyone. Happy New Year!
