Last week, the kids and I did a road trip up to Buffalo, NY to visit Nana. Aunt Heidi was there for the week as well. It was a GREAT time.
The car ride up went quiet smoothly. We made it almost halfway there before I had to make a pit stop. Got the kids some chip snacks and got right back into the car. We were at Nana's in just about 5 1/2 hours. Heidi's flight was delayed, and Nana was at the airport waiting for her, so the kids and I stetched out the kinks in Nana's house. When we got back in the car to go out for dinner, there was no fussing - I'm still not sure how that happened! Sleeping arrangements were a treat - DS was to sleep in the packNplay, DD on the futon (not folded out). BUT, to go to sleep, DD went to Nana's waterbed, and DS laid down on the futon. So, before I went to bed each night, I had to perform "The Great Move". Hey - if it keeps them happy and in bed, I'll do it!
Monday and Tuesday we piddled around town and played out in the snow. Wednesday was "the big day" when we went to David's Bridal for Heidi to try on wedding gowns. We were there for 2 hours and the kids did GREAT! DD even tried on a few flower girl dresses - what a sport. DS lost interest pretty quick, but managed to hold out for the entire event without too many meltdowns. Thursday and Friday were more piddl'n days; and Saturday we kit the road for home. The car ride home was not as smooth as the ride up, but overall, it was pretty good. Again, we made it home in about 5 1/2 hours, with just one stop. The last hour was fairly rough, so I was REALLY glad to get home!
Daddy was waiting and VERY glad to see us all again. Next year, I think I might invest in a DVD player!
