The First Day

Today was the first day of Kindergarten for DD. She has been SO excited to go. It's just too funny. Yesterday we took her to school during the open house, to drop off her school supplies and (hopefully) meet some of the other kids in her class. She was SO clingy and shy I was having second thoughts about letting her go! On the drive home she commented that it was just so different from her "usual" school. I explained that, yes, it was different - this was a big kid school. And all of her friends from her "usual" school were also going to big kid school. That sort of helped.

Daddy saved the day, though. He started in with "Can I come to school with you and sit under your desk?" Response: "No, Daddy, you're too big to sit under my desk" or "Where would I sit?" or "No, Daddy, you have to be FIVE to go to my class".

So, this morning, when it was time to go, she was practically bouncing off the walls! I had to wake DS up to get going and DD kept telling him it was because she didn't want him to miss her first day. It was a very important day!! :-) We left the house around 7:12, because it takes almost 25 minutes to get to the school and we had been warned about the "long line" for drop off. Yeah, we had to sit in the school parking lot for 10 minutes because we were so early!! We took a few pictures and then we all walked in with DD. She took off. She had to be reminded to give hugs goodbye. :-) Good sign!!!

DS and I will go back to pick her up around 3pm. I can't wait to hear how her day was!!
