A Working Weekend

This weekend we spent almost all of our time outdoors. In the past two days we have:

- planted a garden, which involved
-- digging up the dirt/grass that was there
-- tilling the soil
-- actually planting the veggies

- leveled the furnace fans

- defined Abby's new play area with logs

- transplanted about 10 plants

- potted several flower and herb pots

- created a "parking space" for the trailer

- patched dead grass spots in the lawn

I guess you could say we more than made up for sitting around doing nothing last weekend. And I was suppsed to have been inside all day Saturday teaching Handbell Workshops. As much fun as that would have been, I really feel like this was a very productive weekend.

An unexpected weekend at home

We had plans to go down to Richmond to visit some friends, but had to cancel the trip due to momma-to-be having pre term labor and being stuck on bed rest in the hospital. Keep those legs crossed Becky!! So, we got an unexpected weekend at home with no plans. Sadly, the weather was not in our favor. We've both been itching to get out and play some golf. It wasn't meant to be. Friday night was pretty laid back - we caught up on a week's worth of TV (gotta love the DVR). Saturday we ran a few errands, ate lunch AND dinner out and then watched more TV after the kids went to bed. Sunday was Church, lunch out, and working around the house - Mike outside, me inside. We went for a drive (how cliche!) and played at the park for a while and then went home for dinner (what a novel idea). A pretty slow weekend. On one hand I think we could/should have been more productive, on the other hand, it was nice to relax for a bit. Oh, yeah we made Abby's costume for her first school performance - she is a polka dotted sheep. Looking forward to hearing 15 two year olds sing "Baa Baa Black Sheep". I'm going to go charge up the video recorder now!!

Spring Break

Nana has been here for the last week. She arrived Thursday night after the kids were in bed and will depart tomorrow morning. She has spent countless hours playing with the kids, mostly outside. Tomorrow morning we will have a big breakfast, Daddy will go to work late, and Nana will head back home. Then it will be just me and the kids. Oh, crap! What am I going to do with them, all by myself!?! Can you say, Dora? Diego?

The best part about having company is that they love to play with the kids and I can get a break and actually get things done around the house.

The worst part about having company is that they love to play with the kids and I can get a break and actually get things done around the house - and then they go home. We all get spoiled!

The Bunny Song

I'm a bunny, and it's not funny
how people think Easter's just a time for hunting eggs.
I'm a bunny, so listen sonny
Easter is all about J E S U S!

The stone was rolled away
on that first Easter day
and for our sins He died
but now Jesus is alive!

I'm a bunny, and it's not funny
how people think Easter's just a time for hunting eggs.
I'm a bunny, so listen sonny
Easter is all about J E S U S!

After Jesus arose, an angel in white clothes
gave the women the good news
He is alive! Peace be with you!

I'm a bunny, and it's not funny
how people think Easter's just a time for hunting eggs.
I'm a bunny, so listen sonny
Easter is all about J E S U S!

So I hope you kids are smart - Uh huh, I sure do
and you ask Jesus in your hearts
Easter's not just about eggs and new clothes
Easter's when God's only son arose

I'm a bunny, and it's not funny
how people think Easter's just a time for hunting eggs.
I'm a bunny, so listen sonny
Easter is all about J E S U S!
Oh, Easter is all about J E S U S!

Oh, What a night

Last night was one of my top ten worst nights ever. After a very nice evening out with our small group, the family came home and we started the bedtime routine. Put Abby in bed and then put Josh to bed. No one went to sleep. Josh was up for about 3 hours screaming - there was just no consoling him. When he did nod off, he woke up as soon as you put him back into his bed. Ugh. Then, there was Abby. Angel that she is. She's going through a phase where she wants to be potty trained, but she isn't. So, she likes to take off her diaper. At night. And then fall asleep. Last night, though, she apparently had too much sugar before bed. It was a good two hours and many redressings, before she finally fell asleep, unbeknownst to us, naked. I went to bed around 10 and sometime after midnight Mike came to get me because Abby was naked and had wet her bed. So, while he cleaned her up and redressed her (again), I stripped the bed and remade it. Back to bed by 1 something, up again with Josh around 3:15. Both kids awake for the day by 7. All in all, not my best night's sleep!

What's a mother to do?

It was a rainy day, so we couldn't play outside. We'd already been to the book store to play with the trains, and to the grocery store. The kids napped on the way home from the book store, so there would be no more quiet time. What do you do? Well, if you're me...you give your kid a pedicure.

Intro

I'm new to this world of "blog", but I figure I spend an a lot of time reading other people's blogs, perhaps it was time I gave back to the world. Ha ha - I think pretty highly of myself, huh? Truely, I just thought it would be fun to try. So, here I am, blogging away. With two little kids, who knows how often I will actually post anything, and the content may be pathetic. You've been warned :-) Have a great day!
